Autumn winds blowin

Just wanted to say how much I love this time of year. Autumn brings back so many wonderful memories of growing up in Lawrence, KS. We lived in the church parsonage (across from a busy laundry mat) just two blocks from downtown. So my sisters and I would walk the downtown strip which was full of really quaint shoppes and vendors. Some of my favorite treats were Grinder's subs (which is no longer there) and of course our old stomping ground the "DQ". I worked at the DQ along with all of my siblings. We met so many interesting folks in Lawrence. Let's see there's Crazy Joe who used to come in and ask me to marry him on a weekly basis. He once told me he saw me in a vision covered in toothpaste. (don't ask) And then I think it was Bucky who found him at the Y taking a shower then coming through the gymnasium asking everyone for paper towels to dry off with. (yes he was buck naked) Then there was Tiger Lady who used to come in and ask for ketchup because we used to make up the plastic solo cups of ketchup. She would open it right up and stick her tongue in there like a cat lapping it up. We can't forget her getting up on the old picnic table and directing traffic on Mass Street too. I realize now that poor Tiger Lady was mentally ill or on some serious drugs. Goodness! I had a blast growing up in Lawrence, those were the days...... :-)
